2010 Charlie Butt Regatta, April 24, REVIEWprinter friendly  email to someone ADD TO FACEBOOK
On April 24, 2010 the YHS Crew community and W-L Crew community helped
to co-host the Charlie Butt Regatta, a VASRA event named in honor of
the long time W-L head coach Charlie Butt who actively served the
rowing community of greater Washington from 1949 until his death in
1992.  See Regatta Web site at http://www.charliebuttregatta.com/2010/The_Story_of_Charlie_Butt.html.

Alumni Parent, Ed Wilson, along with current YHS Crew Parent, Chris Walsh,
headed up the Regatta Committee for Yorktown with Jack Goodman heading
up the effort for W-L.  As all who attended can attest to, it was a
great event start to finish with great water conditions for racing.

For Yorktown it was a day of significant accomplishment and promise
for almost all of our crews.

A very big day for Yorktown!

In the Patriots first official outing of the spring season, the team
bagged first place finishes in all but one of the eight-oared events
they entered (and that one non-win, was a 2nd of 6 in the Men's 1V).
The women's team dominated the day with wins in the 1V8, 2v8, Frosh 8
and Novice 8.  On the men's side flights were won in the Junior 8 and
3V, with the 1V finishing 2nd open water up on the field, but 10
seconds back of a powerful TJ crew.

The men's Novice 8 was third, the women's Novice 4 was third, the
Men's Frosh 8 was second, the Women's Junior 4 was 4th, the Women's
Light 4 was fifth.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OUR ATHLETES, COACHES AND PARENTS ON A GREAT
FIRST REGATTA.  Let's all keep working hard!
